The information I am about to give you will prove to be very helpful someday… I promise! Today while I was trying to grab some videos off a friends facebook page to embed onto my Strickly MvC2 site, I noticed a slight issue. Never before did I think it would be so hard to take the video off facebook and put it else where. I figured it would be similar to youtube or other videos sites. Boy was I wrong… After much searching of the internet I found a way that gets the job done which is not to difficult to do. So sit back and take notes, because I am going to tell you what facebook does not want you to know!
To embed a video on to your site from facebook your really only need two things: the video id from facebook, the embedding code. The video id is shown in the picture below and all you need to do is copy all the numbers after the = sign.
Once copied, paste those numbers inside of the below code replacing the red XXX’s. You need to paste it into the code twice and once you have done that, the hard part is over. Take the entire embed code below, place it wherever you would like the video to be seen and it will act just as if you were watching it on facebook.
<param name=”allowfullscreen” value=”true” />
<param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always” />
<param name=”src” value=”http://www.facebook.com/v/XXX” /><embed type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”400″ height=”324″ src=”http://www.facebook.com/v/XXX” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true”></embed></object></p>
If you need to change the size of the video box, then just manipulate the “width” and “height” fields. After that you are done! Enjoy watching your facebook videos out side of the book.

I have just followed your instructions but unfortunately I was not able to copy the embed code from Facebook. Looks like they have found out…damn them!
Following on to my previous email. I have now been able to copy the code from Facebook, the problem now is I can’t paste the code into the code supplied by you. Perhaps if I keep trying I will get lucky.
No luck, couldn’t get the codes to paste in….if any one can help please let me know. Many thanks
I will go ahead and try out the code again right now. I will let you know my results.
Looks like you maybe right about them finding out and closing this little back door work around. I am going to do some more research over the weekend and try to find a solution to this.
