Learning Google Adwords

adwordsThese last few days I have been taking in a crash course of Google Adwords. Like most, adword is a service that I heard and did not know much about and pretty much dismissed it. But I will not get anywhere dismissing things without a proper education on the subject so I gave it a second look. It also does not hurt that I had a $50 coupon to redeem upon sign up.

For those that do not know what Google Adwords is, it is a PPC service that places your add on the side of Google after somebody searches for keywords in your niche. I obviously am having a hard time describing something in which I just learned about yesterday so let get a lil help. Below is an introduction to Adwords for those just as clueless as me.

Now after I saw that video I tried to launch my first campaign only to find that my links we disabled. I could not for the life of me figure out why this was happening. As far as I knew I was doing everything to the T. So like any other blogger in distress, I ran to Google in search of an answer. What I found was that the URL that you show and the destination URL have to match.

In other words, Google Adwords does not look too kindly on “middle man “sites that are homes for affiliate products. So for example, let’s say I was advertising an Amazon product on my site with an Amazon URL. This is no good, I would need to sell the product directly from my site or at least a site with Amazon.com in the URL.

After a bit more research I found out this is where landing pages come into play. Now there is a whole science behind landing pages alone but I will keep that for another post later this week, heck maybe tomorrow. I put up some VERY primitive landing pages just to get a feel for the whole thing. Of course I will update and make them more stylish in the future; I just needed to get my feet wet.

If you have any Adwords experience or stories I would love to hear them. The more I learn the more I can share.

Good stuff man. I thought you were gone you took a two month hiatus but it's nice to see you're back also and it seems like you're more about your business than before. Good stuff. I'll be looking for the hustle when I touch down overseas. Good luck bro.

Yea, I took some time off for a few reasons. Had to re-evaluate the whole MMO deal and get settled in the new location. But as you said I am back and more about business. Glad to see you are back as well!
