updateThese last few days have been very hectic. I grew so accustom to my Spring Break schedule that getting back into the swing of school was somewhat of a challenge. But the week is over so I can relax. So you are probably wondering what I have been up to the past couple of days and I will get to that in just a moment. First I would like to brag a bit and mention my Alexa Page Rank just hit 596,335. It keeps falling every 4 or so days so I look forward to seeing more positive results. Now back to the post…

The Joys of Craigslist

What I have been focusing a large portion of my time too is building up my web portfolio. As you know, I launched a Blog Building feature for my site and I have really just been trying to spread the word. Craigslist of all places has showed the most potential for looking for web work. I just sit down and search state to state for individuals who need WordPress help. Once I find some potential clients, I simply review exactly what they need and see if you have the tools to complete.

The glory of working on the web is that you can build a webpage from virtually anywhere with computer and internet access. So I do not have to shy away from a client that maybe in Colorado or Maine because the internet acts as my virtual office space. I have been in contact with a few clients already and should have some web pages up soon.

Demographics

While I was doing a bit a research trying to gain some demographics about who exactly is blogging I came up with some interesting statistics. Well I would not so much as say interesting as I would say expected for the results are what I had in mind. This information is a bit dated (2004) but gives you an idea of who exactly is blogging.

10-12

55,500

1.3%

13-19

2,120,000

51.5%

20-29

1,630,000

39.6%

30-39

241,000

5.8%

40-49

41,700

1.0%

50-59

18,500

0.4%

60-69

13,900

0.3%

I highlighted the key information from that chart just to give an idea of the market that takes part in blogging. This information is not of people who read blogs but people who own blogs both self-hosted and free services. You can clearly see that the heart of the blogosphere is the 13-29 age group. It really kills me that I did not write the source site down, I simply wrote these figures in my notes because they were originally just meant for me. But what would be the fun in that haha.

Getting back to the regular work schedule is the hardest part. Look at it like a stepping stone and elevate to point where you should be. It should look exactly like the place where you want to be.

Alexa rankings can't be the sole determinants of measuring a sites importance and popularity as the http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/fortunehotels.in rankings do not take into account all the browser types like Windows Vista etc.

You are right, but it is a start. It is just pretty cool to see my numbers drop at the rate they are. Thanks for the comment.

So, what did you do during Spring Break? I'm always curious why Spring Break is a big deal with US students, with them going to exotic beaches & partying from night til dawn ;-)

And to your blog building biz, good luck! It will surely increase your earnings!

I did not end up doing much of anything but work related things during my break. It was nice to be able to not have any daily responsibilities for a week though such as class.

I wish I could have gone to an exotic beach and partied till dawn though lol.
